Plus points of Bombay:

It is the financial capital of the region (SAARC nations)
It has a humid climate good for health of a certain kind of people
It has one of the best bus transport systems in the world
It has the lowest crime rate in its category of cities
Bombay Police keeps Bombay safe even at night
Regular local trains up to 1am in the night from 4 am in the morning
Population is around 25 times that of Bangalore
Highest tax paying population in India
Has a beach culture and a fishing community
Has no water shortage
Has the highest phone density in Asia
Largest doctor population
Largest employee population
Highest real estate value

Now let us c how b’lore compares

It calls it self the IT capital of India but is challenged by Hyderabad
It has a wonderful climate but asthma patients cannot live here
It’s transport system is getting better but may take a long time to improve
Bangalore is a safe city yet people close shop by 10
No comments about the Police in Bangalore
About local trains, Bangalore is not exactly in the same league
Small population
Do people pay taxes in b’lore? Well yes but the income vs expanse balance has been disproportionate since independence
No beaches
Karnataka is fighting with all its neighbors for water
There are more mobile phones in b’lore than there are land lines clearly indicating infrastructure deficit

Need I add more to this…

Well to be honest please do not get me wrong when I say a comparison between the two is unfair

I have lived most of my life in Bombay and so will always live like a Bombay boy but people from b’lore change when they go elsewhere.

Sorry, i seem to be in a minority here but i don't agree. I have lived in both cities too and although i like bangalore and think life is much more simpler here...I love Mumbai! If for nothing else then the people. I have lived in many cities all over India but i have never been so warmly recieved or made to feel so much at home. I have always found help whenever i wanted it. And i consider that so amazing for Mumbai because the daily lives of people(i mean a normal middle class household) there involves so much more struggle and hardship than anywhere else that i have seen...and yet they can find it in themselves to smile and lend a helping hand and live as a community. Awesome! I was there last year during the floods and got stranded and i am still in awe of the people, their grit and their resilience. It was amazing how many people came out of their way to offer help. Besides, as far as infrastructure goes...Mumbai's trains are the best. In bangalore the frequency of buses are so bad...if i miss a bus, i have to wait at least another hour to get another direct bus!

One last thing...on the point of trying out other cities...its the same for everyone you know...holds true for Bangaloreans as well who don't venture out.

Geo g, no need to be insulting, all cities are different, as i am sure Liverpool were i come from is different to London, here we take time out to talk and get to know people, London is a much faster pace and i believe a lonelier place but not having been to London how can i tell?, but have been to both Bangalore and mumbai, and i can only say i much prefer Bangalore, only cos mumbai is a bit like London, too big and impersonal, too much poverty, i did.nt see this too much in Bangalore, and the climate is very good, not too hot/cold, the fruit stalls are superb, big juicy apples and oranges, not at all like Goa, all shriveled up and dry. if i had a choice Bangalore ,mumbai, Bangalore wins hands down. it is much more westernized, and as for terrorism which one answerer mentioned, does not exist in these towns no more than it does in the UK. it is perfectly safe to go around unaccompanied without feeling intimidated, more so than in UK i think

mr go is right even thought not fully correct.i guess the people are much better in mumbai..the so called old bangalorians are lazy and the so called natives are frauds (not everyone). commutation is a problem but mumbai is worse in the last few years also the sena and the locals making the city not so friendly for late comers.bangalore is much cleaner, less polluted, green and and there is life man....mr m i guess is not been to bangalore in last 35 years so you are still in the pond ....only thing is that now you are much bigger frog will never get out of that smelly well....remember there is only one life why slog in a chowl 350 sq feet and pretend you are happy for bangalore the living standards are far better..laso mumbai is too expensive and travelling by trains is a big pain..

Geo
I lived in Bangalore for 6 years & in Mumbai for about 35 years .Climate @B'lore is pleasant , but not good for health. Asthma patients just collapse there.
There R so many other drawbacks ---Shortage of Electricity & water, bad transport system, lazy people ( taking 4 hrs. lunch break).
Aamchi Mumbai is better.

People are more helping and sympathetic in Mumbai and traffic is definitely better. Commuting in Bangalore is a herculian task.
