My son's have done this a few times. They would make me something that I would have no idea as to what it is. I would take it happily, we all share a round of hugs and kisses, and then the object(s) are placed on a special shelf for all to see.
*They are older now and the gifts are more distinguishable. My oldest, however, has a tendency to get something he is interested in and say," Aw Mom, I thought it was something you would like, guess I'll have to use it." all before I can thank him. My middle one is into abstract art so I still have to wonder what some of the gifts are. My youngest gives me the perfect gift, he makes breakfast (sometimes it's edible) and gives me a hug and a kiss and says Merry Christmas MaMa, I love you.

As you have heard from others-donate the unwanted gifts.
Take the time to say or write a "Thank you" note to the giver of the gift then sit back and enjoy the fact that there are folks out there who care enough to give you a gift of any sort.
The most precious gift a person can give is of themselves.

I always think they just re-gifted it to me. Just say "thanks" and either re-gift again or donate. Make sure you don't re-gift to the person who gave it to ou as my daughter did to me one Christmas. It was pretty funny!!!
