be considered sexy? Cuz if someone's not (some) others bash them. And if someone doesn't have an attractive feature or features why try to belittle them for it. Soo much negative energy. I wonder how it benefits people to do that. They must find some benefit to it, otherwise they wouldn't? ~just curious cuz of some of the posts out there & what-not.

Seems to have been always important. Belittling people seems to be a way for others to make themselves look better in their own mind.

You may have posted it in the forum you didn't intend to, but I think its a good question for the GLBT forum as well.

I think the truth lies in the fact that people are shallow. Young people are shallow cause its all about attraction and getting a partner or having as many experiences you can. For older people(like me), its all about facing the reality of aging, and hanging onto old definitions of sexual attraction because our sexuality hasn't kept pace with our wrinkles and greyed out hair. Every time I hear someone around my age (53) say, "I don't look my age, or I look ten years younger", I have to laugh.

NO YOU DON'T!

You may look sexy for your age group, you may be fit and healthy, or just completely at peace with your body image, but you don't look ten years younger, you look your age.

People want to believe that what's on the outside matters in the course of a relationship, and over time, it just doesn't. There isn't a person alive who won't eventually wind up looking like their partner, and then eventually they will both look like their dog. Its what happens naturally.

And of course, not all people are shallow, and not all people base their relationships on the physical attributes of their partners. I've generalized for the purpose of the question.
