Even if the the Philippines does become a state of the US, I think it would just be all the same. I think that at present, the US has too much influence on the country and that our government is like just a puppet to show that we're still independent when in fact we are being almost totally controlled by the US(espescially the government officials).

No it's not a state of the U.S. But the U.S. has big influence over it.

they are too far away to become a US state and the US has nothing to gain by allowing another welfare state into the Union, WV and Miss. are enough.

well, from the very start we should have.. we were once "owned" by the us when they bought us from the spaniards in the treaty of paris.. but then we (stupidly) insisted on being "free" and "liberated"... so now, look how detrimental it became for us.... we were too ambitius....
