All investments in all kind of business have a factor of risk.
Your question is naively, u must to know the local market because a service business is feasible in a certain type of town. In a city with 100 people is ridiculous to make a taxi business.
Nobody from here can help in reality, and i think u never will have that kind of business. I think is only a question.

If they are in Lagos Nigeria and the offer came in an email, then its safe to say no a bad investment.

What type of investments you are talking about. Is it equity by way of purchase of shares before listing? or if it after listing where it is listed? or in any other type of instruments.
