I agree in part. It is not mistakes that make a person wise. Though mistakes certainly do teach us. Mistakes and all other experiences, both negative and postive make a person. But not necessarily a wise person. Wisdom is so much more than learning from mistakes.

Food for thought: a mistake yesterday may be interpreted differently today, perhaps not a mistake at all. And what was a mistake before, if repeated may not be a mistake this time.

I totally agree, but others do not. The only thing I am questioning is certain mistakes. Some mistakes have made me feel so horrible (I called a girl a drama queen in 6 grade and didn't sleep for 3 weeks) I still, to this day, repent hurting that girl. It brought me down. She was not nice, grant you, and I was having my reasons, but that gave me no excuse. It made me no wiser, I already knew right from wrong, so I say your statement is true save those sins that are so sinful they do not teach you a thing. Good thinking and God bless!

I do not have any regrets. It would serve me no constructive or practical purpose to dwell on the past. Better that I learn from my experiences and continue to become a stronger, wiser human being. Of course I too fall victim to my emotions and they can turn personal reflection into something less than efficient, but over all I try to keep in mind that life is a journey and not a very long one. To waste precious time beating myself up over past indiscretions or mistakes only stunts my growth.

Yes, I do. we learn a lot from our mistakes. But it make us wise only when we do not repeat the same mistakes again and again. We should learn to not to make the same mistake again.
Making mistakes and learning from them is an essential part of learning process. It takes us towards wisdom.

Yeah, I do agree

When you do make mistakes that have a effect on you it for the better, although it is the hardest way to learn something.... it the easiest way to learn some thing just once.

My mistakes hardly make me wise, but they do tend to make me watch the rear-view mirrors much closer.
