I only ask this question because I just finished reading a Dear Abby column about a 72 yr old sub teacher who is offended at children who request her age. Dear Abby replied that asking one's age is deemed inappropriate. I don't know about that, personally I make it to 72 I'd be yelling it from the mountain tops," Check it out, I'm still kicking at 72!!!!"
So, do any of you find it inappropriate when someone asks you your age, even if it's a child?

Especially NOT if it's a child .... a child without a streak of inquisitivness is a boring child .... it totally depends on the circumstance ..... if it's a social thing I have no problems ... if it's a more professional atmosphere then i don't think it's appropriate ... my age in no way affects my ability to do my job or determines my actions

No, because I don't look my age. If I was 37 and looked like I was 57, then I would have a problem with it.

If you are offended by that question you need to get a grip on reality & visit planet earth sometime.
Better they ask than say you look really old.

I myself do not get offended because it is a part of life. We were taught to ask questions to learn, has age been eliminated? I think that is OK to ask.

It doesn't worry Me at all. I normally reply that I am aged "somewhere between 45 and Death" and leave it to Them to ask for additional information. (49)

i don't mind telling only because i DO look so young. i'm 38 years old and get carded for cigarettes by little boys who ask me out on dates.
of course, once they find out how old i am the FREAK.
everyone thinks me 24 year old step daughter is my big sister.

It doesn't bother me because I'm 30 and people still think I'm only 18.

I don't. Age is nothing but a number. It's how they act their age that matters.
