Start out with local theater events, save up your cash, get a resume', then look into Los Angeles. My sister is there and she says there are more opportunities there. Good luck!

It depends on what you definition of "successful" is. I'm assuming that since you say you don't "do acting for the fame and money" that's not the definition of success you have. Assuming that is true, local community theatres are ALWAYS looking for new faces to help them out! You will likely get paid little to none (where I live one comm. theatre pays $50 for the whole run of a show, while another pays nothing) but they're usually a little more flexible to work with YOUR schedule. Also, if you think "successful" is being able to share you passion for acting with others, you might look into theatre education! There are plenty of schools that have GREAT theatre programs and you can get your teacher certification while being able to perform in impressive academic theatre productions with extremely knowledgeable staff and lifelong friends.

BEST WISHES!!!

No, there are a million of them. Just go to school and be a doctor or a lawyer. Real life needs some serious acting ability .
While you are financially being an academic success, dabble in the local theaters as a hobby. Volunteer for local community plays where shows are being staged to raise money for worthwhile causes. Your life will be more meaningful that way.
