I know that they're just trying to empower women, but by doing so, they are also discriminating against men, i think. I have nothing against women (i am one) but i think its a thought to ponder.

(Considering this is the third time I've posted this same response to the same question, I'd say it proves there's an interest in getting a Men's Studies/Issues category. Anyone know how to contact a moderator? Please e-mail me.)

Because the only kind of acceptable sexual discrimination exists against men. Women like to argue that since everything else is "male" by default, then they should always get their own special little club where they can hang a "No Boyz Allowed" sign and feel all superior. You'll often hear the common fallacy that since men have been historically so important, women should be given more privileges NOW to make up for this Karmic deficit.

Never mind that it makes no sense. Never mind that women are not only considered "equal" under the law, but more important. Never mind that history textbooks have been re-written for more "inclusion." It's always more, more, more.

And that, my friend, is why men aren't allowed something as simple as their own space. Frankly, I'm surprised that Yahoo lets men post in this category.

I think its becuase of the prior history .The one thing that does bother me tho is that men today are paying for the sins of there fathers without even committing them tthemselves for the most part.

Women look at the past about men not the here and now .That is what hurts men the most .We are judeged agaisnt the standards of history instead of who we are today right now in front of you.
Most men including myself want to empower women today .We do feel tho that women are not conscuous of friendly fire as much as men are .

Friendly fire isnt .So i ask any women who speaks about a man (or the vice versa for that matter) to take a mere moment to process things from both sides .I am not saying do not go after what you want , that is your birthright ladies . What i am saying is that in the long run if some women did not consider men to be evil and there was some give and take women could get more of what they want .

This isnt the 1600's or 1960's or the 80's for that matter .This is the here and now

There has been a movement within acaedemia towards "men studies". It however differs a great deal from women studies because male experiences are generally different.

Often male studies or gender studies fall under the banner of Critical Theory which involves men exploring how they have been impacted by patriachy, how they have been co-opted by the sytem and the role privlidge has played in their life.

THIS QUESTION GETS ASKED A LOT, SO HERE IS MY STOCK ANSWER...HOPE IT SHEDS SOME LIGHT...

In today's social and political climate "All Animals Are Equal...But Some Are More Equal Than Others"

Try reading the book "Animal Farm" by George Orwell...then you'll understand what is happening these days...not only to men but to Christians, Anglo races, those who are wealthier, etc. On the world stage, ALL AMERICANS have even become victims of this mindset. The basic premise of the book is that victims of oppression, when they finally break out of it, tend to become exactly like those who oppressed them. We should all be very careful.

To marginalize men and other traditionally advantaged groups is to say that two wrongs make a right.

Men have feelings, too and shouldn't have their feelings and social issues invalidated because of real (or perceived) historical injustices.

God bless :-)

i don't know that that's how ''Society translates'' what you're explaining here in any respect! I could say that I even have under no circumstances ever seen there's a distinction interior the genders once you write > "admire adult adult males" vs. "admire women people". To me it fairly is ''admire'' of or in direction of yet another person ...irrespective of their gender. i've got yet to have a communicate with ''Society'' or hear speech given via it. ~ and that i'm not being flippant here, I basically have not address what 'Society' certainly thinks, basically what diverse segments of it look to declare approximately it very plenty ~ often with very a good number of self interest. Sash.

men are very simple in that what you see is what you get. they don't waffle when they make a decision and they just go for it. women on the other hand are much more complex individuals. there are many layers to a woman and we have been neglected throughout time. Besides I believe "men's studies" is called History.

Simple answer: because all the women with degrees in "women's studies" need a job. They cannot use their chosen degree in the real world for any practical application. So the academic system subsidizes "women's study" courses.

Women's studies exists because previously, virtually everything was based upon mens research and modified to fit women. This also applies to minorities. Previously all things were based on statistics and information gained from white males, but there are important differences, mostly regarding health, that are incredibly important to know. Old history books and even current ones only provide little insight into the lives of women and their strides in history, as well as minorities. Health books based on middle aged, white males were the basis for treatment of everyone. The list goes on.

Women's studies allows for inclusion and a knowledge base of things that women deal with. Women's studies itself is all encompassing in terms of topics, from art to women in business and mathematics to women's health. Women's studies isn't simply about empowerment, it's meant to bring to light the issues that women face in the job field, health differences, socioeconomic differences, family, and more.

Men are more interested in sports and sex than understanding themselves and their relationships or their role in the world.. They get their history from regular text books. Yahoo should start a category as a test. Maybe they could discuss how to manage both a career and a family.

Because men are supposed to buck up and take it from all the women.
