That may be the most insightful question I've ever seen here.
I suppose the answer is that the majority of cultures favor thin (and young and beautiful... blah blah blah)... so the avatars are invariably thin...
Do they even have an option for a fat avatar? I may change mine just to make it unique...

there are fat avatars. there's a "plus sizes" link next to the "tops" and "bottoms" on the avatar page for "apparel". i don't use them, but i just look in there to see the difference in the sizes.

GOOD QUESTION! START A REVOLUTION! LETS ALL WRITE AND BLOG TO THE YAHOOANSWERS PPL! MAKE FATTER AVATORS! haha jk. But thats true. It's all American culture and ideals. Thin is in, fat is unacceptable. PISH POSH i say! It's not that they need to make fat avators, but more realistic ones. For fairness sake, not that it really matters in life. I don't go thru my day going, 'Hmm..i wonder how much I look like my avator today..." LOL. High-5.

wel i m slim so i dont actually think of fat avtars
but by latest edition we have fat avtars
but who like to have a fat avtar
every one wants to have a perfect body
