It is very easy to copy PS2 Games and you don't need to modify your PS2 for that. You do need a PC with DVD-ROM in order to rip the games. There are tons of software that help you do that. Since I 've never ripped PS2 dvds myself I can't remember the name of the software but thats how my roommate backs-up all his new games and uses the ripped DVDs to play instead. He says it prevents him from damaging the original disk. I might be able to get the software but you'll have to email me. Please dont use it for illegal purposes or making money because I am a game developer who believes in rights of people as well as developers. :)

There is a software product called X-Copy, it is very very hard to find...It will allow you to make data images of any disk format data including PS2 games

Actually you can, you just have to get a program or mod your ps2. Something i can never tell you since i don't know how.
