And if you think that's bad, just add up what they spend in one day in Iraq.

The Earth like life is subject to entropy and both face the same thing - death!
Stephen Hawkin has said that unless man finds his way into space fairly quickly the human race is doomed.
The sun will eventually become a red giant and consume the Earth.
Some scientists believe the Earths core is cooling far more rapidly than was thought which may lead to something more severe than just another ice age.
Climate change is a fact and warming is also an accepted fact and climate change has the ability to go either way - Heating far to high or cooling far too low. Either way the effects for the human population would be deadly.
The Sun produces huge solar flares and it would not take much of an increase in either magnitude or swarming to make life on Earth very dangerous and difficult. Possible even impossible.
Earths resources are finite and we will run out of basic necessities like ores and enough nutrients to be able to grow food!
Water on Mars raises fundamental questions. How does it remain liquid under the surface - is there a heat source? Is there life in the water? If there is life, even primitive life, it may offer the building blocks for cures to many earthborne diseases.
Water on Mars would allow it to be used for a jumping off point into space. Allow the siting of research bases and probably a system to deal with any large rogue asteroid that could hit Earth.
Whilst you are only thinking of now there is a very real possibility that our children or grandchildren may need the benefits to be found in space in order not to suffer or die.

Well, if you actually think that those who work in various capacities for NASA are analogous to starving Ethiopians, then you'd probably believe me if I answered "yes" to your narrowminded and thoughtless diatribe.
And, by the way, if there were life on Mars, that is hardly a reason to "throw out all religion', as if the point of all religions is to prove that life only exists on earth. Absurd.

Well, I dunno. But I think u are being a little narrow-minded? Don't just look at it from ur point of view. Try to analyse from the real point of view. If there is water present on Mars, it certainly means that life exists there. And don't you get even the littlest amount of curiosity to know more abt the people living there? and don't you feel to know more abt them? If you think, this is wasting money, then i wud also like u to know that living and being a waste on this earth is also wasting money along with resources. It is what most of us do, and think of it, haven't we got enough on our plates than home such people?? :-)

I would like to know if I have a distant cousin out there.
What NASA does or nor do will have no effect on Ethiopians, nor will living like Ethiopeans prove anything.
If you think diverting NASA money to giving handouts to Africa will solve povery problem of Africa, then you are mistaken. Ask Galgof what happened to his efforts. Now Bono is at it, and making the situation worse.

You are missing the point, big time. If water is found on mars then you can almost certainly say that there is life on mars as well, albeit primitive. So if we can prove that life exists on other planets within our solar system then it is almost certain it exists on other planets in other solar systems. And what this all means is you can throw all religion out the door as it proves we are not the only ones in the galaxy!

the individuals who're lifeless set on ruling out God because of fact the way life all started on earth care deeply approximately this. they think of it will coach that life all started without God. I disagree. God in no way stated that Earth replaced into the only place he placed life, as far as i will tell. NASA cares, because of fact the agrument is significant to investment. Sci-fi followers care, because of fact they decide for a number of those fantasies to have a guess. i do no longer care. i like Sci-fi, yet do no longer care if there are truly UFOs and stuff. whilst i check out the organic issues around me. I even have hardship believing all of it got here approximately by twist of destiny. i like NASA, yet ponder whether we ought to spend the money extra suitable. in basic terms one united states boy's techniques.

this is part of Humanity's urge to develop and explore, without which we'd still be living in caves.
The possibility of life on other worlds would shake up a lot of religion and philosophy, which people use to form their worldview and relate to their environment and neighbours.
Ending hunger could be done easily by reforming land use and global trade. there are more obese people in the world than starving people, so the problem there is one of distribution.

If man's urge to explore was always put behind feeding the poor, then we would probably, in 2006, be living in a culture of 1,000 years ago. Happy, but stupid.

It isn't your money, honey...so you don't get to tell them how to spend it.
But it is good to know you are paying attention, keep up the good work, as long as we keep reminding people that there are starving people in the world, they will keep trying to help them.
