i checked out the original ones in the V & A museum the material looked a bit like interfacing, i am doing a textile project at my school, any ideas.

I'm not sure I ever saw any dresses made from paper, but paper panties were a bit of a hit in the late 60s/early 70s. They were made from the same type of paper and construction as J-cloths, so I suppose 'interlining' might be as good a term as any.

Incidentally, they still offer paper panties in hospitals if you are going for an operation, or so I am given to believe.

I think it was something quite similar to J clothes, you know those blue & white striped cloths you can buy to clean the house - didn't catch on though - you could get knickers made from the same stuff, so you could take them on holiday and throw them away.

it probably was some form of interfacing - or maybe layers of paper made in a type of paper-mache way perhaps!!
