I've called a few friends and instead of the standard dialling tone, they have some chart music playing instead, how do you do this?

Im not talking about mobile ringtones, its the actual dialing "ring ring" tone you hear whilst you are calling someone, its replaced by a music track until they answer.

its called a calling tone and these can be downloaded from the relevant networks internet portal,O2 ACTIVE,VODAFONE LIVE etc,but the networks will charge you for whatever song you choose, although now and again you can pick up a free one but they are never very good.

If you live in Pakistan and have a mobile phone from the Mobilink network, they have a really good service called Mobitunes that you can use to change your dialing tone to music.

The technological name for it is 'dial tone replacement'.

If you have a polyphonic type phone you should be able to do it, ask one of your friends to send you an MMS with one of their tunes in it, then store it and use it, if it works then you can down load others, be careful though not to get tricked int contracts that send you junk pub every month that eat up your credit.

Check that your phone is polyphonic and if it is, download from yahoo your favourite tune.
