Oh they are such lovely creatures, don't you think. I once had a ride on one on the Island of Aldabra, but I thought afterwards that that was naughty of me, so I donated £500 to the trust to help them. I think they live about 200 years and if fed on the right food (not sure what it is but i will look it up for you and let you know) they will grow to a length of 2.5metres and a height of 1meter.
I hope this answer has been helpful to you.

The giant Sulcata tortoise (Geochelone sulcata), also called the African Spurred tortoise, lives a 100+ years with some individuals getting over 200.
The smaller Mediterranean spur-thighed tortoise, also called the Greek tortoise (Testudo greca) is much shorter-lived. Like the other small tortoises, its lifespan is usually closer to 50-80 years, shorter in captivity.

The oldiest recorded Spur thigh tortiouse on record is 235 years old. The spur thigh tortiouse is one of tortiouse's that have the longest life span known to us. I do not know how long there life span is in captivity but I am sure you could probably find out from any zoo they love helping people out.

My sulcatta is 2.5 years old and she is now 12inches long(carapace length) . In cold weather she is put into a plastic crate and i use a heating lamp on her at night. She doesn't really like it but what choice do i have? Fortunately, it's now summer and she is back outdoors and happy again. I think if she gets to about 18inches I might find housing indoors a bit tricky but these plastic crates would suffice until she got to over 2 feet in length - but don't expect to have a lot of room for them at night.

if given correct sunlight, heat lamps and fed on a very high fiber diet, they can live as long as 250, they love kale broccolie cucumber sweet potatoes and lettuce, in this country they need keeping indoors in winter unless in under floor heated shed as they grow huge this can cause a problem as i will find out, mine is a baby so is in all time exept when hot, he is a hungry little fellow . t rex tortoise dust is neaded 4 vitamins, strawberries if they reffuse to eat
