Syntactically, a noun is a word category expression that typically denotes an entity of some kind. Grammatically, a noun is a word that stands for a person, place or a thing, be they concrete or abstract.
Syntactically, a pronoun is a word category that is a substitute for a noun expression. Grammatically, a pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun.
Pronouns are significantly different than nouns in that pronouns have no descriptive content; thus, they play a functional role, rather than a descriptive role. The functional role they play is to refer to a noun. There are different types of pronouns: Pronomial noun, pronomial quantifier, and pronomial determiners. Traditional grammar frequently uses the word "pronoun" to denote a set of objects called "Personal pronouns" (like he/him/his).

A noun is the what something is called in this case. A pronoun is short for that.
Ex: Noun= Nessa (my name) pronoun= she (refering to me without saying my name again.
If you were talking about me you wouldn't keep saying Nessa this Nessa's that. You would establish the subject (Nessa as a noun) and then on refer to me as she or her (pronouns)
Friends becomes they. Car becomes it. People become them.

The usual definition of a noun is a person, place, or thing. A pronoun refers to a noun. For example, in the sentence, "I like to sit on that chair because it is comfortable," the word "chair" is a noun, and "it" is a pronoun which refers to the word "chair".
