You need to tell him that you value his friendship .... but your feeling don't go to the level that his do ... It's best to tell him this way and at least he'll know you still like him (as a friend) ... and if he is the friend you hope he is ... he'll understand ... he might not be able to stop loving you ... but he should be more understanding towards you

Just continue to be polite to him but don't lead him on. If he doesn't get the hint then talk to him about it, and make sure he knows you like him as a friend but you don't want him as a boyfriend. Sometimes it helps to use other reasons such as you need to focus on school right now or you are not ready to date.

Definetly have to be honest with the guy... all in all if he is truly your friend he will always be your friend even when you tell him and if not... then look for what's around the corner:)
