What Licence fee - it is a New McLabour Tax.

OK word of warning. I live in a country were there is no license fee, all the TV is commercial. I can't get BBC anymore except the radio via the internet. Trust me, YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO DOWN THAT ROAD. The TV is truly truly apalling. I'm not suggesting all commercial TV is bad by any means but something about having the BBC to set the standard keeps UK television amongst the best quality in the world. If you don't believe me, you need to travel more.

I would be perfectly happy to pay the license fee here if I could get the TV channels. Sadly it's not an option.

Getting rid of the license fee and thus the BBC will not solve the problem. The license fee will simply be reimposed by a future gov as a means of collecting even more tax from us already bled to death tax payers.

I dont mind there being some kind of fee maybe, but the amount they charge is ridiculous, some people cant even afford this charge...Apart from eastenders what is good about Bbc?

Our license fee goes to the fat cats as bonuses.

The licence tax is for the receiver in the set.
That is why you need to have a licence to cover VCR's , DVD players that pick up Tv signals ...Computers with a Tv card and the same for laptops.
All the above applies even if you don't have a Tv set in your house..
Nothing to do with the crap that pollutes our Tv screens every hour of every day.
I think the TAX is a bit steep though, especially now they are doing away with the reliable analogue signal and replacing it with rubbish digital.

I wouldn't mind so much if the BBC had some good programming but it does not.
Also the above inflation yearly price hikes are a rip off to every one....it's about time the government stopped allowing these ridiculous price rises and realise that even Dick Turpin wore a mask.

It should at least be optional. Why can't we even watch ITV or Channel 4 at least, not to mention Freeview? You need the licence to pick up any channel, not just the BBC, which is ridiculous.
