regerugged,
thank you for your astute insight. i'm glad you were told by the administration exactly what the parameters of mission accomplished were. for some reason i had thought spreading democracy would have played a part since they tossed that term around 15 million times. so that idea was never part of the mission apparantly according to you.

and like every typical conservative sheep you bring in other concepts to muddy the picture. your casually throwing in some random drunk driving stat in your rebuttal is just that-random. also a diversinary tactic you've learned from this administration. it has nothing to do with iraq. go back to sucking on your mommy's t!t now, boy.

I think that statement was very telling of Bush's intentions in Iraq. Everything that has been done in Iraq since has just been window dressing. The intent was to topple Saddam. I don't believe there was any clear intention to establish law and order in post-Saddam Iraq. One can only speculate on the real reason Bush wanted Saddam out of power. The possibilities are endless.

At that point in history, NOBODY knew about the onslaught of sectarian violence that was soon to come . The world is an ever-changing place, my friend . Things that are occuring at this moment in history are unprecedented . Nobody has the 'perfect solution' . And that's why so many people are arguing , back and forth . I have 45 years experience on this planet and 6 years of military service as well . When you have the opportunity to be on the 'inside' you get a much 'clearer view' . It would serve well to re-assess your opinions after much thought . Choose the path that provides solutions and not the path of scorn and hatred !!
Otherwise there won't be 'time' left for 'experience'.

The thing that bothers me most is seeing Bush in that flight suit. And to think, he's only been to Iraq twice since he started the war. Once to spoon out turkey on shingle to the troops at the Baghdad airport, and another time to patch together a deal for oil contracts with the Iraq government. Total chicken hawk in denial.

Another dishonest post from chronically disenchanted set. People like yourself lack the ability to view events in proper context. A good question would be Did George Bush act prematurely when he declared "Mission Accomplished"? However, your question is designed purely to incite a fight. Try to understand this, the initial mission was to depose the regime. The mission was accomplished and was extremely successful. If you want to argue they didn't have a plan for handling the peace I would say this is true, but I suspect that the truth is of little importance to you. Your goal is to bash others who don't agree with you. Nice try, but it doesn't pass the smell test.

I think you and your question are idiotic. The "mission" was to defeat the Iraq military and oust the government of Sadam Hussein and his two goofy sons. That was done.
It was never the mission and is still not the mission to prevent criminal acts or prevents deaths. We cannot even do that in the US. There are more people in the US dying from crimes and accidents than in Iraq.
I can just imagine your weeping and gnashing of teeth if 16,000 of our military were killed every year: that is the number of people who die in alcohol-related auto accidents in the US, every year.

Depends on what their mission was. We won the war but lost the occupation, apparently.
