Is the Patriot Act really protecting Americans, or is it taking away our rights? Please be serious. Thanks.

Even if one isn't breaking any laws, there are some things that one may want to keep private. I am a law abiding citizen (except sometimes I break the speed limit on the Interstate). But let's say I had a medical problem that I don't want anyone to know about. Why should the government be able to spy on me if I choose to tell that secret to my best friend? I heard a court case once where someone was convicted for a crime I know they didn't commit (I was a witness) but because they were a diagnosed Bipolar, it was *likely* that they did it. It's things like that I worry about. Peace.

Yes, I have read the Patriot Act. I have not read The Patriot Act II. And, I freely admit that I don't understand all of the terminology. But, I believe a good citizen absolutely must question authority. It doesn't mean you must disagree. The sad part is that many members of Congress have admitted that they never read it themselves. Why did they sign something they didn't read? Is that good representation for the citizens of this country?

He replaced right into a leaping up and down screaming that it replaced into incorrect to invade someones privateness yet of direction the liberal will say he wasn't. Glenn Beck grew to alter into politically conscious after 9-11. I even have seen him bash the two sides of the political spectrum. he's an employer believer interior the form. that's placed on him and that i disagree, I believe listening on calls to countries placed on terrorists cover or are supported, as long as, the regulation is repealed after the war is complete. Lincoln did droop Constitutional rights in the process the civil war it replaced into additionally achieved for the duration of WW2 and it replaced into deemed allowable for the duration of those time yet no longer with the help of President Bush after 9-11 yet is high quality for Obama it relatively is the hypocrisy

It is protecting Americans. It does not take away any rights. It is a tool designed and used to find and detain terrorists. That cannot be a bad thing.
What should be no surprise (but it is) is the fact that people don't read, know or understand what is in the act, yet complain about it. I have asked complainers to read it and understand it.
