Are they God's chosen people? What does that mean?
Can you give me textual evidence?

I don't think God would break His promise with Abraham just because of some disobedient Israelites.

At the very least, Moses was still faithful. Wouldn't God have seen that?

But does God change his mind so easily? Don't you think God knew that would happen? Besides Jesus laid down his life, it wasn't taken away from Him.

Yeah, I heard that some Jewish people doubt this "chosen" thing because of the bad thing that happened.

But shouldn't you recognize that despite many efforts of many people to wipe you out, God has not allowed it to happen?

In the end, you will see His promise for you fulfilled completely.

You do have to consider the world at that time.

And a lot of times Jews were a lot more merciful than the people around them were.

and the Jews were criticized harshly for their problems with the Edomites (they are consiered their brothers).

The Philistines came after the Jews had settled in the promised land.

Thats what it says in the Bible. You would believe it if you consider yourself religious, although people disagree on the matter, even the jews themselves

I'm not sure that posting this question at "Politics & Goverment" will get you good answers.

However, as far as I know, according to Jewish interpretation, Jews are the chosen people, but the full meaning of this is complex. There is a tension between the Universality which exists in Judaism (The God is a God of all the humans, and he is not just the God of the Jews), and the particularity, which derived from the fact that God has chosen to give his Torah to the Jews, and the Jews had been chosen to fulfil the 613 commandment given to them by God.

This tension give legitimicy to all the humans/nations/etchnic groups because of the Universality. In the Nazi ideology for example, the choosing of the Arian Race is rejecting the other races, making them inferior. In Judaism it's not true.
On the other hand, Judaism leaves room for multi-culturalism. The particularity in the "choosing of God", gives legitimicy to the existence of the Jews a a group different the other groups around it.

The benefit of being chosen.
As far as I know, in Judaism, for Jews to be chosen considered to be a great gift. The outcome of this choosing in this world, is the OBLIGATIONS Jews have to fulfil (the 613 commandments). In other words, in Judaism, it is considered a great gift to be obliged by God to fulfil the commandments he gave in the Torah.

Number one politics is not the proper catagory for this question, Two, no, how could a creator of all mankind chose only one people? Isn't that saying God is prejudiced against all non jews? Hitler espoused the same thing with his master race theory, thats what a chosen people means, a race superiour to others!

This "Chosen People" crap is nothing more or less than Jewish racist BS concocted to justify aggression against Israel's neighbors (Philistines, Amorites, Edomites, etc) in the ancient Middle-East.

Re-read those Old Testament descriptions of wars and massacres. Ask yourself what kind of demonic god would have approved such atrocities? As for these so-called "Prophets", what kind of lunatic would believe God was sending him messages ordering him to commit acts like these?

If one of these prophets lived today, he'd be living in the cell next to Charles Manson....

Free Your Mind.

If the Jews are His chosen people then after their thousands of years of gross persecution one would hardly be surprised if they felt that it was high time He gave up His patronage and made the life of some other race miserable for a change.

I am not of Jewish descent, but neither are their judges of today.
