Well I am sure they don't eat 5 big macks.

I am a diabetic and regular sodas have a lot of sugar so I order diet because there is no sugar and I don't like the taste of regular and still want a some fries and and sandwich and have to count sugars to know how much insulin to take. Before I was diabetic and and worked fast food I thought the same thing, but it's not always about calories but carbs (sugar). I am sure some stupid weight conscious people order diet soda and a big mac thinking they are counting calories but it's different for us diabetics when a soda can make our blood sugar elevate very quickly but a burger can have a mix of fat and carbs (sugar) and not have the same effect on our blood sugar levels.

I understand what you mean. I work at McD's and used to make fun of the people that came in and ordered a Double Quarter Pounder meal Super Sized with a diet. It never made sense to me. But I quit drinking regular pop and drink diet caffine free now for medical reasons. Now regular soda is WAY to strong, it tastes like i'm drinking syrup. So even though it probably isn't the case with everyone, some people just prefer the taste of diet.

It's become a joke and i can see why .....I order diet coke because i drank diet pop when i was small because my mom drank it ,(to lose weight ai assume)..but obviously I developed a taste for it and certainly prefer it to regular coke which to me tastes like 12 teaspoons of sugar that it probably has in it ....+++=== WAY too sweet....

So it's just for taste.....

I also don't eat 7 big macs either..anything over one is a bad idea....I never feel right after Macy Dee's anyway................

They don't want sweets. Or maybe some of them are diabetics, because Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder, specifically affecting carbohydrate metabolism. It is a disease characterized by persistent hyperglycemia (high glucose blood sugar). It is a metabolic disease that requires medical diagnosis, treatment and lifestyle changes. The World Health Organization recognizes three main forms of diabetes: type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes (or type 3, occurring during pregnancy) [1], although these three "types" of diabetes are more accurately considered patterns of pancreatic failure rather than single diseases. Type 1 is generally due to autoimmune destruction of the insulin-producing cells — beta cells — while type 2 and gestational diabetes are due to insulin resistance by tissues. Type 2 may progress to destruction of the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas, but is still considered Type 2, even though insulin administration may be required.

Since the first therapeutic use of insulin (1921) diabetes has been a treatable but chronic condition, and the main risks to health are its characteristic long-term complications. These include cardiovascular disease (doubled risk), chronic renal failure (it is the main cause for dialysis in developed world adults), retinal damage which can lead to blindness and is the most significant cause of adult blindness in the non-elderly in the developed world, nerve damage, erectile dysfunction (impotence) and gangrene with risk of amputation of toes, feet, and even legs.

About the coke, Diet Rite is a brand of no-calorie soft drinks originally distributed by the R.C. Cola company. Today it is distributed by Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages. Diet-Rite Cola was one of the first commercial diet sodas to be nationally distributed. It was introduced in 1958 and initially released as a dietetic product, but was marketed to the general public as a healthful beverage in 1962. The original formula was sweetened with cyclamate and saccharin.

By 1969, the Food and Drug Administration banned cyclamate, forcing the beverage to be reformulated. Diet-Rite was reformulated in 1983 to eliminate sodium, making it the first sodium-free diet soda. In 1987, with saccharin losing popularity with the public as a possible carcinogen, Diet-Rite was once again reformulated, this time replacing the saccharin with NutraSweet brand aspartame and eliminating caffeine. In the 1990s, several fruit-flavored varieties of Diet-Rite were introduced. In 2000, the line was reformulated yet again, this time to replace aspartame with Splenda brand sucralose and Sunett brand Acesulfame potassium. It became the first major diet soda in the United States to use neither aspartame nor saccharin as a sweetener. In 2002, some flavors were slightly adjusted and the brand name lost the hyphen, becoming Diet Rite. In 2005, "Pure Zero" was added to the name.

You haven't been able to figure it out becasue you can't reason or count(add) properly. Obviously they get diet coke inorder to consume less calories. Since they know that the Big Mac has too many already for their daily caloric requirments.

Some people don't drink diet coke/pepsi for the diet aspect. Some just don't like the sweetness that comes with regular coke/pepsi.

Who the hell eats 5 big macs? But, if you order diet soda, then the extra hundreds of calories you cut help, despite all you take in with the food.
