I hope you have learned your lesson. Anyway here's what will happen:
The police will contact you, this may take a week or a month (or in my case 6 f*ck*ng months later). They will send a letter that sets a court date which you MUST attend regardless of how ridiculously short notice it is (I got the letter saturday and had to be at court on 8:45 on monday).
There will be a court case, in the light of the evidence I would plead "guilty" as they will give you a lower fine. Chances are you WILL be banned for a year to 18 months, and will be fined £100 - £500. You can pay in installments depending on income.
Don't pay for a lawyer in advance - I payed £500 and to be honest they were almost totally useless (I could have done as well defending myself). If you have a lot of money pay for a really good really expensive lawyer and they may get you a reduced driving ban, but if you can't afford a really top class lawyer the free one the court provides will be as good as any one you hire.
Remember - show remorse and be genuine or the fine will be much higher.
It might be worth seeing the Citizen's Advice Bureau to get some basic information on how the legal system works in cases like this - they may tell you something I have forgotten. Also there should be a book in your local library that may help.
Here's something to remember - if you do get convicted there is a course they offer you. Do that course! If you do it then your insurance premiums will be a lot lower than otherwise.

Anyway - I hope you don't get too badly punished. And remember NEVER do this again, even one drink is too many. There are no excuses (I had a nervous breakdown and ended up drink driving while I was sleep walking and that was not a good enough excuse). Anyway as long as you have learnt you lesson and nobody was hurt things are not so bad. Keep optimistic!

And don't let this spoil Christmas for you. We all make mistakes.

Not quite sure what you want help with, but I assume when you say you were "done" you were arrested but have not yet been to Court?

If so, what you do is do what you're told. Return to the police station if need be, go to Court whenever the summons says to do so, plead guilty if you did it, take your sentence, and do whatever it requires of you. Expect to be disqualified from driving for at least a year, as this is the mandatory minimum. Also expect an additional punishment, which may be just a fine, but could be probation supervision, unpaid work or a drink drive programme, depending on whether this is your first offence, and on just how over the limit you actually were.

You committed an offence, and now I'm afraid you're in the criminal justice system, and you'll just have to deal with that.

You can start by thanking the Police Officer.
Think you feel bad now? Try to imagine how you'd feel if you killed a family. I don't think I would ever have a moments peace.
You made a mistake, learn from it. It's an embarrassing and very costly mistake. As it should be.
The Officer just might've saved your life that night. And possibly others, you'll never know.
I'm serious, send him a thank you card. Let him know you're
well aware of how differently the night could've ended. You have no one to blame but yourself. Thank him for getting you off the streets. I'm sure he will appreciate hearing from you in a respectful way.
It'll take time, but eventually you'll be able to put this all behind you. Don't do it again ! Like I said, learn from this experience.
Good Luck, and God be with you.

All year around-especially at christmas time, the police send out the same message; DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. And all year round people like you get sauced up, and get into what is for all intents and purposes a lethal weapon. And all year round some one gets mown down, maimed-killed or seriously injured, by spanners like you who think "just the one won't matter-i'm a good driver-i can make it to home/work-i drive better when i've had a drink". And all year round its the police who have to pick up the body parts after your drinking bout, and inform the next of kin. Time to be tough on this--max 5year ban--re-tested to heavy goods vehicle, or bus driving test standards--insurance quotes beyond your means--and stiffer sentencing. There IS no excuse for drink driving-you are in effect ATTEMPTING TO MURDER by getting into a car after drinking alcohol. I refuse to help you, you knew that there was a possibility of getting caught, but you went ahead and did it anyway...you only have yourself to blame. merry christmas...NOT.

if you have been charged there is very little you can do, the machines used to test alcohol levels are as good as infallibale.

Seek legal advice, I am sure that you will be told the same, there is a way to reduce your driving ban, but you need to plead guilty at court to be eligable.

Basically is you plead guilty you will be offered a reduction in disqualification if you attend a rehabilitaion course, this is a one day course, you pay for and its like american driver education, you then get a certificate which you send to the court and they reduce your ban.

Sorry to say, but if your over you dont have many options, the court will definatley ban you, up to you how long for.

Just do nothing, you ill get a court date like i did.
It came through the post ,i got a solicitor to plead my case but i
shouldn't have bothered,a pot dog would have been better.
It also matters how much you were over,if a lot our ban will be
longer.I was ot a lot over and got £150 fine plus twelve
month ban.
I told my insurance when i tarted driving again about the ban,Churchill, and my insurance did not go up.don't forget
to put a stop on insurance os you don't want to pay it when banned, Good luck.

Don't drink anything when you are driving. You should know that!! Maybe one drink but nothing after that.

People do not realise that even one drink can affect them even if they cannot feel the effects.

I guess you have to deal with the concequenses and deal with it. Accept that you did wrong and move on. At least you did not hit anyone or cause an accident. Count yourself lucky.

Next time you want to dink on a nightout, go in someone else's car, take a bus or taxi or walk.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't drive anywhere when you have been drinking. You may do something you could regret for the rest of your life and you could end up in jail!!

Good luck for the future and please, no drinking and driving.

BE SAFE.

1 Go to court and plead guilty.

2 Sell your car.

3 Invest the money in a high interest account because, when the ban is over, your car insurance is going to be ASTRONOMICAL.

4 Declare the conviction every time you apply for a job - not to do so is ANOTHER criminal offence.
