This Sunday, Dec. 09, 2006, Mars, Jupiter, and Mercury will be together in the sky as far as your thumb in the view.

Three planets haven't been that close since 1925, said Miami Space Transit Planetarium director Jack Horkheimer.

And it won't happen again until 2053, he said.

According to the ancient Mayans, this was a sign that the cosmic s h i t is about to hit the fan. This world is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions, real wrath-of-God type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling, forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes, the dead rising from the grave. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria. Real end of days stuff, lightning, hail, floods!!!!!! Doesn't sound good!

Don't you find Horky is a bit too excited? anyway, this should have started some end of days talk like the big planetary alignment in may of 2000. Good info though!

They're actually closest on the morning of the 10th for the Americas, and before sunrise for everybody.

Yes... trouble is, it won't occur until after sunrise where I am; plus, I'm near Seattle, so the clouds and fog are a problem. He has a really good show, though :-)
