I had to stay at a hotel in Mobile, Alabama for months after my home was destroyed. Indians owned a small store up the hill from the hotel.
I went there every morning to buy coffee and food.
The integrity of this family profoundly affected me. I saw people come into this little store being so discourteous. These gentle people continued on, always helpful.
I was ashamed of the conduct of fellow Americans.
