I live in the South east of England and only use my car occasionally but it seems everytime i do between the hours of about 3pm to 7, i'm sitting in a traffic jam, Now were in the build up to Christmas its beyond a joke, the problem is the roads just can't cope with the amount of cars, not to mention the damage they do to the enviroment. When is the goverment going to address this issue properly? Imagine what its gonna be like in another 10 years if nothing gets done. We as tax payers pay for these m.ps over inflated sallarys and they don't even do their jobs properly

Work out the following:
The total £ spent per year on car purchases.
The total £ spent on fuel.
The total £ spent on road tax.
The total £ spent on insurance.
The total £ spent on MOT.
The total £ spent on maintenance.
The total £ spent on emergency services for accidents.
The total £ spent on tyres, battery's, exhausts.

My calculator is not big enough to show the total £ billions.
As a country as a whole, without nobody spending on the above, the government could actually make public transport and a national taxi service absolutely free of charge.

There would also be a huge reduction in environmental damage, road deaths, road rage, traffic jams.
We are already spending the money, we are just spending it on the wrong things.

The roads would be deserted except for the buses & trams & free taxis. Then they would be much safer for all of us to use bicycles for all of the millions of local journeys (under 1/2 mile) that we all take at present by jumping into our cars.

It is a basic fact that most traffic in our towns and cities move slower than if you actualy walked in the first place.
So, in 10 years time = complete grid lock, if not sooner !

Don't put all the blame on the government, put the blame where it belongs: on the stupid breeders. Of course this is a bit of a Catch-22 as the government tax policy subsidizes breeders and so encourages more of it but then again something this important shouldn't be that influenced by a couple thousand dollars or pounds or whatever in breeding subsidies.

As a tourist I find it impossible to drive a car on British
roads anymore - too much traffic.

The only way is to come there is by air and use public
transport even if it is very expensive.

What ever is it to be a few years from now ?

Well I advise moving. It's only going to get worse, not better. We have an increasing population and whether the government cares or not, there's not a whole lot we can do.
People should stop breeding so much - that would help.
