We know very well that the mood and flavour of film industries other than hollywood is quite different and hollywood cant understand others inner feelings, emotional interactions, human relations, socio-economic culture etc. They are totally unaquainted with the definition of family, joint family, regard, worship, teachings, culture, moral values, folklore, regional & seasonal songs etc of east. So why we feel disappointed when films of bollywood fail to get oscar in catagories other than technical?

Most of the Bollywood films were outshined because of thier flaws. I mean they just did not deserve to be nominated .
Can you name some bollywood films that can compete with the likes of Lord of the rings: return of the king, Titanic, Schindler's list, etc. ?
I mean c'mon, you really need to accept that there are some movies that are far more better that the rest, and it was just a coincidence that bollywood films are pertained at the REST.
Watch some of the Best Picture Films and you'll understand why they won and what is the taste of hollywood. The taste of hollywood MOSTLY represent the taste of the world. Its just is...

The problem with us is that even after 59 years independence our minds are still enslaved by the west. We still prefer to be western in our attitudes and pride on owning imported goods. Thus, its the same with our film industry. We always try to mimic the western world and then plead for their appreciation for the same as if we were their pets. We even name our Indian film industry as "Bollywood" which sounds like a duplicate of Hollywood. I think if we stop craving for their attention, we might just get some. We don't need others to tell us if we are good, we gotta believe in ourselves. I can name so many Hollywood movies which are purely crap and so many Indian movies that can outshine even the Oscar winners. Its just the matter of standing up for ourselves.
