I am sorry if I am being pedantic, but these are not really cliches, but proverbs or sayings, meaning short sentences that convey an old wisdom, passed on through the generations.
A cliche is a sentence or phrase, usually expressing a common thought or idea, that has lost its originality and impact by long overuse.
He got what was coming to him.
That was poetic justice.
Beyond the prophetic edge.
Beggars can't be choosers.
She wears the trousers.
He tries to wear two hats,
My office door is ever open to you.
He is his fathers son.
Like two peas in a pod.
I take my hat off to him.
...and many more.
