There's no sure fire way to tell how many planets are in the galaxy. However, if you are talking about the Solar System, which for some reason people confuse with the whole Milky Way Galaxy, there are currently 8 planets, since Pluto has been downgraded.

We do not know exactly how many planets are there in the galaxy, but in the solar system, there are 8 KNOWN planets. They are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Dwarf planets include Ceres, Pluto, and Eris. Recently, Pluto was added to the classification of dwarf planets. They added it because they discovered that Ceres was bigger than Pluto but Pluto was counted as a planet that time.

The sun is a star and it has 10 planets are cercling around it. there are more than 1000000000000000 stars in a galexy like milky way. you will find out haw many planets are in our galexy by suming up these numbers.

Its hard to say, I was taught at school that there were twelve however last year were some changes they disrigard one of them as a planet and included other unknown planet.
