There were some elephant headed idols and stuff unearthed from native american settlements. They also look very similar to Indians (from India) and are mostly of asian origin and race. First western settlers called them Indians not only becasue north america was discovered on a trip to India, but also due to the similarity in looks and cloths and culture and stuff as well.

Some think they are originally from Japan, but the genes and anatomical match is not that much. So possibly they are from India, moved to South East Asia - >Japan -> Alaska -> North America

Red indians came from North America as in Cowboys and Indians. Indians are people who now live in India

No, "red" Indians didn't originate from India; the most popular theory is that they migrated to North America from Siberia about 10,000 years ago, during the last ice age.

Just so you know, it's widely considered offensive to call them red indians now; in the U.S. they're usually called Native Americans, and in Canada they're officially called First Nations (save for the Innuit and Metis)

First, stop being deliberately ignorant. "Red Indian" was merely a term given to describe them by the early white settlers.

Second, it is generally accepted that native Americans originate from Siberia.
