The primary defence of these fools being kept in power is this : they bring in money via tourism. This has been nullified and it is widely acknowledged that tourism would still prosper in the UK. I mean really, would people cease coming to see our famous landmarks just because these inbred despicable wastes of human life aren't there? NO. I have literally no respect for anyone's opinions that the Monarchy are deserving of their power and this includes members of my own family). Face it, as time gos by the people who are young right now will age and 50 years from now Royalty, if it still exists, will not be viewed with such admiration since the old aged generation of the present will have passed on and be replaced by NEW AGE broad minded thinkers. And also, makes me ill, I have read Royalists on here claiming that Anti royalists are all fools? How very hypocritical, when these sentimental fuelled idiots cannot come up with one legitimate reason to keep them in power.

How would we have no Nhs without them. More money would be ploughed into health, education, etc etc what sort of moronic statement is that you tool, to assume that simply becasue the USA has no Monarchy and thus no NHS, the same would happen to us also???

why should I have to leave my own country cos of them? You saying you know where the door is and thus saying yuo would rather I left than them is just an indicator of the elitism and lack of equality them promote and which is becoming prevalent in society again, and is merely evidence for my points. You have just reinforced my argument, Nice work genius. You are obviously a mindless sheep who knows nothing of what he is talking about and has grown up pro British, and as such you associate being a proud Royalist with that. well guess what, I also grew up in a royalist family but I had the strength and mind to see past all the bullshit and rebel

yea it is great living in a nation where you don't actually have to earn your place and can lead a country without the necessary talent do to so, simply becasue you were born into it. to make matters worse all their history of inbreedin doesn't exactly give them the advantage of intelligence. some democracy being forced to out take it, well i am not british anyway, I am Scottish.

To madge 51, if you mean me being Scottish, I am actually Protestant and in the central belt if you are protestant you are actually expected to the like the Royal family, kind of like all rangers fans do, but I as a Rangers fan despise them, I am rare in that so that kihnd of blows yr argument out the water eh, seeing as loads of Scots worship royalty? Are you relevant to present day life? Some would answer yes, some no. The fact is that the British Monarchy are the top of the Warrior and Religious castes of British Society. You remove the Monarchy and someone else will fulfil those roles because they are still relevant in present day life. Maybe not for you, but for others they are. One of the issues of present (and past) societies is that they are not transparent, there are many things that the Monarchy does that we do not hear about. Just because the quality of they're influence cannot be quantified doesn't mean they should be axed. It is tantamount to firing a highly useful person in a department because on a spreadsheet it looks like they produce no revenue ie downsizing. I personally do not know whether the Monarchy is a good or a bad thing, IMHO most things are a subtle mixture of both. I will leave you with this question. If you did a great deed/series of deeds and the British nation offered to reward you with a Knighthood from the Monarchy, would you accept it?

I am from a family of non royalists I can even remember my nan calling the Queen Mother an old fraud, especially during the war when her 'house' got bombed, yeah right as if she was there at the time. I also think Andrew is a waste of space, what does he do apart from play golf. Chaz Prince and Camilla won't last together now the 'chase' is over and he's got what he wants because he is a right spoilt little **** who has someone wipe his **** for him. Ferguson the ginger one will gladly put her name to advertise anything and her daughter is going the same way - and her daughters are just as ugly as their cousins. I can say no more I'm winding myself up just thinking of 'em all.

I do not despise it. It's just that something in the current monarchy is NOT going right. Look at Queen Elisabeth's kids, their lives are pretty bad, they've all been divorced. But I think the Queen is still doing a reasonably good job with her advisors and parliament. I feel sorry for her in a way...If there is anyone to despise, despise Tony Blair..he's a pretty bad prime minister.

As a member of the british forces when i did my attestation when i joined, we all had a choice to give it queen or the church! Imagine my confusion when as an atheist and a anti royal! But it all military fashion your grin and bare it! LOL Still winds me up when i see Prince Charles strut out in a different military uniform he has no right to wear. One day he's a top ranking naval officer, next day he's a friggin pilot!!! Then he becomes an army member! It reminds me of that kids program Mr Ben!

I feel the monarchy is a complete and utter waste of time. past centuries, i think the monarchy is what made Britain great. But today, NO. They do nothing for this country. So i agree with you wholeheartedly. Just a bunch of people lucky enough to be born into zillions and call themselves our leaders

I think it's wonderful that we live in such a free society where you are allowed to make statements like that freely. I think if you went back 100 years you might be hanged for such a statement.

As for the Royal family - it is not their fault they are who they are. They were born into it, raised into it and know no other way of live. Most royal men join the forces at some point in their life to get some sort of reality into their lives and also because the Monarch is the head of all the armed forces.

They royals we have at the moment do no harm. I think they cost us about 38p a year each in tax and I really wouldn't like to see Tony B(liar) travelling the world meeting people doing the global relations thing. Just makes me shiver thinking of how a president has ruined America. At least we have some sort of serene presence around.

You are talking a fundamental change to the political system.
We abolished the monarchy once, and then re-instated them.
Most other republics have verged on or strayed into dictatorship over the last 200 years.
What ever view you take of them personally, I believe that the monarch is integral to the political system.
