yes, they did that. Not only precious ornaments but they also grabed natural resources of their colonies to stay ahead in industrial age.Like cotton and other agri products from India, they took for textile factories in England. The list goes on...

Call it "looting" if you want....thats one of the main benefits of having a large colonial empire..you can take what you want from it for your own benefit. I think you'll find the British also built and developed a lot as well..especialy in India. Tell you what ..you can have the kohinoor diamond back if we can have the rail system and your entire political structural development back.

Check the history of any empire building civilization, they all "use" the lands and people that they control and influence...the US is doing it right now.

100% true. British are the original international drug pushers too exporting opium into the Far East. But those are the wild old days where The Church of Rome loots at will wherever they roam - Spanish, Portugese, Dutch, British, Frenchies all alike.

u would be speaking Spanish if the English had not won their war so be done with trivial thoughts of how things never were in your hands to say this, power of the British to give back was last seen as they turned over hong kong and that i wouldn't do, but they did it and be thank full that guilt complexes don't ruin everything, cause your thinking is retrospectives of not understanding the power of the British empire and butt kicking~real men did real things in a real world with real fight guts and glory and they did it and it's history not sniveling current ideals

I'm pretty sure everyone looted from everywhere they colonized. That's pretty much what colonialism is.
