No. In this case, the Dude most certainly does not abide. Had abidication occurred I would not have just been confronted with a question that confuses and enrages me.

hmm?
I always called a long winding case of them "stairs" like wooden inside the home
but outside when they are made of cement, steps....you can have steps inside.. like if your living room is down some from your kitchen, there is a step between the room, but they are not stairs..
also if you have a wooden porch/deck out back.. there are stair cases "stairs" to go up and down to the garden off from it...
my theory.. but hey! it works

i think setps are mostly rock and low
stairs are wood and goes up higher
