It really depends on what you run on your computer. IE7 itself is pretty stable, however there are some programs that call specific functions that have been changed or removed from IE7 (basically those functions only worked for Internet Explorer 6 (IE6). This is usually where the crashing and problems comes in.
One of the more common ones I seen is with the Verizon DSL Help software that they give you when you sign up for DSL. This program running causes a lot of glitches, but you can just uninstall or stop using the program or uninstall Internet Explorer 7 from the computer until a later time when things get stable.
You can always uninstall Internet Explorer 7 by going to:
Start > Control Panel > Add and Remote Programs
Find "Windows Internet Explorer 7" and click on "Add / Remove" and take it out.
If you install it and there are no glitches, then your good. If things start giving you problems, just take it out and install it when it becomes a "Forced" update from Microsoft.

IE 7 is safer than the earlier versions in terms of security. I personally use Firefox, the safest web-browser around. There is a built-in popup blocker and tabs have been a salient feature of this browser since it was created two years ago. If you don't like IE 7, uninstall it and you'll find yourself with IE 6. But I fiercely reccomend Mozilla Firefox for safer browsing. You may search and download here:

I have been using Internet Explorer 7 for about 3 months now. It didn't cause me any problem. For safety you need internet security and/or anti virus software.

No, until a spyware or a malware sneak into your pc. Usually a hacker uses IE 7 to make a pc crash. Use Mozilla-Firefox or Opera. Maybe it could solve this problem.

Didn't crash mine, besides MS usually does a restore before it installs and a roll back if you decide you don't like it (ie delete it). Also besure to auto update or manually updatethe security downloads for it.
