Of course not. Believing as you wish is a basic American freedom. The United States is no more a chosen people of God than Iraq or Iran, or Israel, for that matter. You do not have the right to force your beliefs on others, just like the goverment has no right to force a particular religious belief on you. This country was founded upon that belief. The Pilgrims and others came to this country because their governments forced them to belong to a particular religious group. They wanted to worship or not worship as they pleased.

America is founded on people seeking freedom from religious persecution. America is also founded on Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Being able to believe what you want is not only your choice, but also makes you a true American.

America is supposed to be about freedom. Freedom to believe in a religion of ones choosing or the abandonment of religion if one so desires. It would be Un-American to force a person follow something they truly do not believe in.

Yes, absolutely. God has blessed America as his pe-eminenent force for good in the world; econonomically, politically and militarily The pesident is doing God's work. So, not to believe in God is the act of a traitor.

Only if you listen to the Bush administration. Does not being American mean that one does not believe in God? Does it mean that they should be invaded and forced to become like Americans and adopt the "American" way of life?

No. One of our founding principles was freedom of religion. That includes the right not to worship. People like Thomas Jefferson were more enlightened than many people today.

"but believing in god tends to show a lack of brain power"
That is a typical liberal bigot type statement. They think that if you do not participate in the religion of Darwinism you aren't as smart as they are. As far as I'm concerned that outlook is another form of religious extremism. It makes them feel better about themselves to the least.
