The song was called Angel of the Morning and was originally a hit for Merrilee Rush in 1968. It was written by Chip Taylor and recorded by Evie Sands but her record company went bust on her. P.P. Arnold had a UK hit in 1968 with the song while Juice Newton went top ten in the US in 1981 with a cover version. Nina Simone recorded a version of it as well.
Shaggy reworked the song with his version as it was a song about a woman who had a number of one night stands.
