Hi there, no its not fungal, it caused by ammonia burns.
My own goldfish had it and has fully recovered and he was turning black.
Ammonia burns can be caused by overfeeding, overcrowding your tank, poor filtration and dirty water.
Its very easy to cure and prevent.
Do 10% water changes evryday for the next week then every other day for the next week, after this a 10% change every week and you'r tank ammonia levels should stay safe, if unsure buy a test kit at your local pet shop.
Make sure you have a good strong filter, not too many fish for your tank, 10 g per fish and you only feed once a day, a small amount.
This saved my fish.

Yes, this is a typical fungus. You can get something to treat it at the fish store. Keep the aquarium clean. Gold fish are really dirty. Do water changes, and replace the filter monthly. Good luck!

its like my Dad and turning into an old Trout?

seriously, its definitely not "white spot" but some sort of fungal disorder. Blend a little mild salt solution into the water, it will help de-stress the fish while you find out the problem...

Yeah this is a ailment i think of you may take all the fish with black spots out and shop them seperatly so as that they don't infect the others yet i'm tremendously particular there is not any treatment.
