Iriver, iriver, iriver! I bought one two years ago and it's still going strong! You can upgrade the firmware from their web site.

They will not crap out like an ipod!

There is a fan based website: www.mysticriver.com which will tell you all you need to know.

Look for them on the net.

Zune 30gb on sale at circuit city for 249.99, Target had it on sale for 229.99 and if it still is circuit city will match the price. Check their website to get more info,.this one seems to be the best, Ipods don't have the same reviews as the Zune mp3. Good Luck.

I love my ipod, but it's true I heard the a large portion of them are lemons... hopefully mine doesn't turn into one!

I used to have a Creative Zen Micro. It was cool, cheaper than an ipod with the same memory, but it stopped working one day, it would freeze up, the headphone jack broke and i would have to hold the headphone "male" part into the jack for the sound to be clear or else'd it'd be full of static. Maybe i dropped it too many times and it was hardware-based. My new ipod nano is flash-based so there is less risk of it freezing up if I drop it. Thumbs up in my opinion!

iRiver and Creative.

If you want something that is even more stylish than the iPod (yes, it's possible) and you don't mind crappy software, then definitely check out Sony's MP3 players.

I'm not sure about any other types of mp3 players. Whoever told you that ipods suck was lying. I have an ipod and it is awesome, it holds 7,000 songs and tons of photos and video clips.
Ipods, expensive but worth it.
