When Christ came, he preached that the old law should be put away. The old law included an "eye for an eye". Christ taught principles to live by. Some of this and some of the old law exist in the laws we have today and it was taught that people should follow the law of the land. I believe people should have respect for the law except in instances where it goes against their concept of right and wrong. The law of the land can't possibly match God's law because it includes everyday living, and it's up to the person to decide in these matters. The real judge of everyday living is God, but God doesn't do legislation anymore.

You may not have noticed, but we have something in this country called "Separation of Church and State". Our governments cannot promote one religion over another. Having said that, there are many laws that are dictated both in the bible and in modern society (i.e. thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal). There are many biblical laws that are not illegal in this country (i.e. using God's name in vain, adultery, coveting). The question I have is: who punishes God? He caused the great floods of the Earth that massacred many people. He caused the fall of Sodom and Gomorrah, more merciless deaths. He was an accomplice to the attempted murder of Isaac, son of Abraham. His alibi: it was just a test, I didn't really intend for any negative consequences. I wonder seriously how Isaac could have gotten over the emotional drama related to such idiocy.

When one gives evidence in Court, you swear upon a bible, promising to tell the truth. In this instance, Gods law of truth is first.
Also, you must not be a false witness against another, also Gods law, and if one combines one with the other, your testimony has to be true.
As to one law over another, God or mans law, and with Gods law the moral one, and mans law, usually, self interest, you must always onserve the moral law, even where a 'man appointed' Judge says you must say the opposite.

There are undoubtedly some cases from Puritan New England, (the Salem witch trials may be an example) but nothing since the adoption of the Constitution.

I would love to send you examples. But unfortunately my (Saudi) Arabic and my (Afghan) Pashtun are a bit rusty. Only only speak the national languages of countries who do NOT let some scilly old storybook dictate how WE should live our lives TODAY. Laws are passed in parliament and not in bible baby story time evenings.

If you read deeper into the Bible you will learn that man's law is God's law because he established the law.

Absolutely not! The basis of the laws we follow are in the U.S. Constitution. If we followed "God's law", we would be subject to ridiculous laws such as those specified in this "Letter to Dr. Laura":
