Because America doesn't care about the rest of the world?
Their so called aid contributions (not just America but all developed countries) are pathetic compared to the amount they consume and throw away each year.
Sure you can say yeah we contribute, but you don't contribute enough, nobody does, start thinking about others and less about yourself, thats the problem, so many egocentric people.
Someone said to me the other day "I will be dead by then so why do I care" When i said we will run out of coal soon, and that absolutely disgusted me.
Do something now, not tomorrow.

Because, for good or bad, that's the way the world works today. The G7/8 countries own about 90% of the world's economic resources and this balance scale won't just magically tip back over to harmony because of charity events - even though it's really really good that organisations like the Red Cross and others are exist; the world would in no way be better off without them. I'm just saying they're not a single solution to the problem, they're more like an acute first-aid.
Western capitalism and the way it spreads over the world through its transnational media channels is the main problem. More or less because of capitalism's habit of thriving on unequality. Of course this is a slightly biased explanation ;p the situation can't be explaned simply with these dystopic arguments, because there are some things that would indicate some alternative progress to the "progress" usually meaning the industrialisation of the 20th century....
Hard question, hope this was of some help... at least one perspective of the problem,and I guess people in the US would call me a communist, so I'll just say it clear: Nope, actually I'm not :)

Not sure, actually, but this I know: It's only a matter of time before the hungry people will all get in little boats and come here all at the same time to get the food! Lord help us then...

It's called ethnic and cultural cleansing. and it's the free enterprise system means of keeping the wealthy industrial empires i.e. (The west) in control of the worlds food supplies and commerce. Good scam! Hey?
