I know this has been asked but its all closed to new answers. Anyway, I believe, being Christian, the death penalty is wrong. Yes, they may have killed someone themselves, but it doesn't mean they deserve to die. Surely that would mean the person who killed that person would then have to be killed? I think abortion is wrong too. Life starts when a child is concieved, not born. Having an abortion is like killing a child. I believe its a selfish thing to do, and if the mother does not want the baby, she should give it up for adoption.

What if the mother was raped and does not want to carry the baby to full term, ruin her body, and have constant pain and turmoil over not only carrying the rapists child but additional turmoil when she has to give it up for adoption?

What about incest? Should a young girl have to carry her father or brothers baby to full term and undergo extreme emotional distress? Does this not ruin HER life??

Pro-lifers- What do you do to care for the thousands of children born into extreme poverty each year? Do you feed, clothe and protect them from harm? Do you pay their medical bills? What about the kids who are born to very poor families and the child will grow up in extreme poverty with no future?

Pro-lifers only care about life up until birth...what about after birth? What about the thousands of unwanted, neglected, hungry, abused, sick children that would have been better off to have never been born into such horrible conditions? Do you care about them?

With abortion, there are several things to consider, such as (as was mentioned in another answer): was the woman raped? If so, why should she have to go through the entire pregnancy bearing the child of a rapist? Would she be able to love this child, or be subjected to go through the pain of putting him/her up for adoption? Another thing could be that the parents know the child is going to have certain birth defects (horrible ones) where it would be a better choice to have an abortion, no matter how heartbreaking. In the case of an accidental pregnancy, that is not fair to the unborn child not being given the chance to live (in my opinion).
The Death Penalty I hate the thought of, but then again, I have not been involved personnaly with a case. I'm sure if I was in the shoes of a rapist/murderers parents who's young daughter was molested and killed, I would fully support the death penalty. Overall its not my decision on who lives and dies though.

I don't believe in the death penalty and I do believe in abortion, but I could see why people would be against it and I appreciate that you are consistent. I think there are times when a mother cannot afford to take care of a child or even endure nine months of pregnancy, and it can be more humane for the child-to-be if she gets an abortion.

I don't agree with both. Think of the victims and the victims' next of kin, death penalty should be enforced. Giving birth to a baby and knowing that you can't take care of the baby is more selfish. Even if give up for adoption, how will the child feel when he/she growth up? How about those being rape and get pregnant? Should they also keep the baby since you consider it as killing?

I would agree with abortion on the grounds of rape, incest, or the welfare of the mother. I think that probably consists of maybe one percent of all current abortions. I think abortion is solution for people who are stupid, and irresponsible. I don't agree with it under any other circumstances, although people who are that stupid and irresponsible probably should not raise a child anyway. I do agree with the death penalty, but not the way it is presently used in our judicial system. I believe that if some one is sentenced to death it should be allowed to be appealed, but if the appeal fails the execution should be expedited and carried our as soon as possible. I believe if all murderers were put to death it would ease the burden on our prison system and allow us to imprison other offenders without lessening the sentences because of overcrowding. I simply believe that if you kill some one and you are put to death--that is just, and fitting punishment only-not vengeful or a sin.

I understand that people that get sentenced to the death penalty are more than likely deserving, but NOBODY but God himself should take another man's life! This as well goes for abortion...yea, it's MURDER..there's a beating heart..life in the womb, and for some doctor to insert a sharp object into the womb, puncturing the baby's head, sucking out his brain, then when the baby's limp, that's when it gets sucked out..isn't considered murder? I understand that there's women who get raped and impregnated, but does that mean that the child has to suffer for it? Let the child live, give birth, and simply put him up for adoption..there's a family who'll support this child and raise him well...a child is a gift from God..to live on this planet for a reason..and to have an abortion...it's simply refusing a blessing..

Yes, the death sentence is wrong coz nobody has, or should have, the right to take away another persons right to live.

However, to every general rule there are always exceptions. One of the exception to the above rule is abortion. I am of the opinion that abortion should only be allowed for health reasons and not that of unwanted pregnancies emanating from wrong choices. For example, if it were highly probable that my child would be grossly disabled to the extent that his/ her life becomes a burden not only to itself but those around it aswell, in such case, the inevitable would happen.

This is a HUGE question. I'll just tackle the death penalty.

As a christian, I believe people should be held accountable for their actions. They should face the consequences of 1st degree murder.
If someone maliciously and intentionally kills another human being, with no good reason (anomaly?), they deserve death. This will also cause anyone else thinking of killing someone to not kill them, because if caught, the murderer would also be killed.

Big penalty=Fewer instances

Death penalty and abortion are against the Christian teachings because these are ways to stop life for which God is the only authority.

I am pro-choice. I do not support partial-birth abortion. I do not support the death penalty. We should avoid euthanasia, war except for self-defense, guns, violence and fight the lack of animal rights in this country.
