What would you use to pad a pizza pan so that CD's falling on it wouldn't make so loud of a noise?

We are making a pseudo-Rube Goldberg/Domino contraption out of CD's, DVD's, tapes, and guitar amps, and my parents are asleep. What would you do?

If you have acess to craft foam, lining the bottom wtih it would get rid of the noise without comprimising your contraption.
