Which type of guitar would you recommend as a better rock guitar?
1) Les Paul
2) Strat
3) Angus SG
4) Dean
5) Flying V
I am looking for something that has a wide range of sound, but a good rock guitar.

I own 2 strats - one has a humbucker in the bridge position and it covers metal nicely.

Well I agree with the first review totally other than the strats playing blues rock better. For the srv tone (sound) it can't be done with out a strat but what ever. Ibanez have really fast necks and they sound good but there isn't the warmth to them. flying v's well what kind? they are light weight on looks my favorite but hard to play siting down in my opinion the esp dv8 is the best v out there and I don't like esp's so that's saying a lot. strats are over rated i have a franken strat totally custom and it will rip blues but I can still walk circles around it with my tele. I know that if you change pickups on strats they can do what ever but still over rated in my opinion. Although I hate the body style I love the music not the looks and for sound a les paul is a hard guitar to beat.

there are really only two guitars in my opinion. the strat and the gibson les paul. I have a les paul and it is so sick. I would love a strat too. les paul can play any style of music. strats are more limited, you may have difficulty playing metal on a strat. I love both. it is really up to you. try em out. If you like to play blues rock and classic rock go with the strat. it won't let you down. (Jimi, stevie ray) les paul (jimmy page, countless others) you really can't go wrong with a les paul. if you do get one go with a standard les paul and avoid the studios. it is personal preference. I love both however

God Lord, you have completely missed out on Ibanez! If you want a range of sound that other guitars cannot provide, you need a Universe 7 String. However, if you are left handed like me, choice is somewhat limited with Ibanez.......
