The bond between Na and Cl is considered an IONIC bond.
Ionic bond is the bond between a metal and a non-metal. If you look at your periodic table. Na (sodium) is an alkali metal and Cl (chlorine) is a non-metal. So...ta-ta!!! You got your answer!

Sodium chloride, NaCl, has an ionic bonding because sodium (2,8,1) will lose the valence electron to chlorine (2,8,7) so that they will both be stable. Sodium becomes the sodium ion (Na+, 2,8,2) and chlorine becomes the chloride ion (Cl-, 2,8,8). the two ions, being of opposite charge, will be attracted to each other. NaCl crystal is shaped like a cube with alternating Na+ and Cl-.

Na---Cl
The bond is ionic, as is the compound NaCl, with coordination number 6 (i.e. each Na ion and each Cl ion are surrounded by 6 ions of the other). It does not have covalent character as does the bonding in aluminium trichloride, due to the high charge density of the cation (=positive ion).

This bond is ELECTROVALENT or IONIC. Unlike in non-metal molecules, you cannot usually find 1 mole of this substance as most ionic bonds relay an a giant 3d lattice structure. When I mean giant it is classified as giant due to the number atoms needed to create 1 gram of this salt.

ionic bond. Because when you have a positive and a negative charge, it forms an ionic bond.

im not sure ionic i think as the sodium NA joins with clorine atom to form the mollecule NACL2 as clorine is a gas at room temperature that just means (the 2) its a gas
