After making Halloween and Halloween II, the filmakers thought of trying to continue the series of Halloween films, but with each having a different story and characters, though taking place in and around Halloween. Halloween III: Season of the Witch bombed at the box-office, because viewers were expecting more of Michael Myers--so, they got more the next times around.

Because the third is called season of the witch and even though it is done by the same people who did the Halloween 1 &2 they decided to go in a whole another direction with 3. Only thing it has in common with the first 2 is the name.
