How do you unblock a mobile phone bought with Vodaphone?

I got a Vodaphone mobile phone from UK, but i can't use my local sim card on it. what should i do to unblock it so that i can use other sim cards? I heard there's a code which is required. . .

Bad news is you have to find the code.

Contact the manufacturer or service provider is all I can think of.
