Is being heterosexual also a 'choice'? As a human being why would anyone choose to be ridiculed on a daily bases? Would anyone want to hear from coast to coast that many people consider us mentally ill, perverts, demented and not worthy of living. Risk my life if I venture out of my little world. Hear about other gays who are beat, tortured, maimed and killed just because some ignorant pig thought they had the right to take a life. I can not imagine being anyone but myself. If I could choose not to be gay, I would still want to be gay. Seeing examples of the alternative, the person I am I like, regardless of what others say. If you could choose, would you be willing to live the life of a gay person for a week? Too bad some can't take a long walk in our shoes.

I don't think it's a choice at all. With all the crap that gay people get why would anyone "choose" to be gay. I never chose to be straight. It was simply that when I started having sexual feelings my brain and body just reacted to men. The same thing happens to gay people except they respond to the same gender. It's not a choice or something you have control over. It boggles my mind that people think gay people "choose" to be gay. Does it logically make any sense for gay and lesbian people to choose to be trashed and bashed and told they're sick, sinful, going to Hell, etc.?

Well I can't say that it's choice for everyone, but I do know a couple of people that tried it for awhile and decided it wasn't for them. That was definitely a choice. I've also heard of gay people turning straight and that is also a definite choice, cause if these people were really born gay in the first place they wouldn't change for any reason.

I do not believe that they choose to be gay either. We are all born with sexuality not heterosexuality. So many gay people struggle with it and really have to endure some difficult things, so why would someone choose to go through that?..they wouldnt.

Definately NOT a choice!
Who would really choose to be an outcast, looked down upon, have their and their loved ones lives threatened constantly.
It's biological, not a choice.
It many cases the person chooses to play it straight to avoid all the problems. But then they have horrible psychological issues because they are denying their true selves.

I agree with you. With all of the social disadvantages of being gay, why would they choose to be gay?
I was born straight, I didn't choose to be that way, I was just born that way, like gay people.
A gay friend of mine had rocks thrown at him after he came out of the closet, and his parents kicked him out. Why would he choose to be that way? People even tried to throw rocks at me for being his friend and letting him live with me after his parents kicked him out.
Eventually his parents let him move back in and the jerks that threw rocks at us quit being jerks after I keyed their cars for picking on my best friend. They deserved it for being so mean to an innocent human being.

I am bisexual and currently in a relationship with another woman. For me, my sexuality is NOT a choice. It is simply who I fall in love with. The fact that she happens to be the same sex as me is irrelevant.

Why are straight people straight? Is it a choice?

Looking at the research that has been done to PROVE that it isn't a choice, I believe that it isn't. Its been proven to be genetic, and possibly a result of higher amounts of estrogen (for men) and testosterone (for women) in the body.

I believe it is none of my business. I choose my partner (who happens to be the opposite sex) for my reasons. I believe that I am honorbond to allow other people to make their own choices for whatever reason they choose.

No, it's not a choice. People are born with a biological in balance in their make-up, so we have to except them for what they are.
