What do you tell someone when they are thinking about commiting suicide? When everything in their world is going wrong? I feel so bad for her, because she is a really caring person, she's respectful to everyone, and she could never intentionally hurt anybody. Yet, everyone treats her like she killed someone in their family. It frustrates me to witness it, and I get emotional thinking about it. People are always giving her dirty looks, or laughing at her. They treat her like she's a nobody, like her life is meaningless. People pretend to be interested in her and play with her emotions. People dog her right to her face, and challenge her, guys and girls alike. I say "Wow, she's a *****", when someone insults her, but she says stuff like, "Don't be mean." She has such a good heart, even when people disrespect her. I just can't imagine dealing with what she has to everyday. Yes, I know people are assholes, but what do you do when it seems the whole world is against you for no GOOD reason?

I don't know what to tell her when she mentions suicide, because I honestly don't know if I'd want to hear what other people have to say if I was in her predicament. She always says, "I would be so much better off if I wasn't here, why do I have to deal with this?" People are so shallow and heartless. It upsets me so much.

Tell your friend... that there are bad people in the world and if people are treating her like crap than she should seperate herself from those people. These people arent worthy of her and she needs to surround herself with honest and true friends that dont care about what other people think. Sometimes (especially in High School) people forget about doing what they think is right and do what they think is cool, but later on in life they will hopefully realize that they were being total assholes and regret the person they have been. I was one of those people early on in High School and I regret it. I suggest if things are too bad for someone to be able to consieve living on anymore and taking their own life, they should (before they do the deed) move to a different area or country, no matter how difficult it might be to enable that change. Different people and different surroundings could make all the difference. Remember that this is a big world and people act differently according to where they live. An example would be comparing the hospitality of someone who lives in California to someone who lives in France, or Canada, or New York, or anywhere you go, people are different even if you go and live two blocks away, or the next city over. My point is that things can and will get better if you take a look around you and see that everything and everybody is not the same. You might not get it right the first time or seven times later, but life is worth living and if youre in a rut, know that the people around you, that do care to talk to you, actually do love you in one way or another. I hope you will make a difference in your friends life and show her that LIFE IS WORTH LIVING!!!

Anyone contemplating suicide should be taken very seriously. She is probably depressed and should seek help. High School or college can be very tough and people are usually immature and can be very mean at that age. Even though many things are going wrong for her today things can change very rapidly in the near future. She must not loose hope. Most people commit suicide due to lack of hope that life will stay in a state of misery but as we know that is not so since life is ever changing. Help her by talking to her and giving here courage to see a doc or a counselor so that she does not take permanent action for a temporary problem.

People that consider killing themselves generally have some sort of mental illness. The way you can help is the same way you treat any sickness and thats to diagnose the roots or her ailments and try to treat them. I still believe that there are more reasons to live then there are reasons to die, you must convince your friend this. Tell her do not to dwell on the trivial and dramatic aspects of life and to focus on what's important. Import things are family, friends, her future, love, happiness, peace, and any positive sides of the universe. If I was her I would change my scenery, go somewhere else away from everyone, the Lord gave this whole Earth to us , go explore it. Go find the things that will make her happy.

It sounds like you are in high school?

Tell her that high school is full of bored losers who have nothing better to do than pick on other kids and make them feel bad. Life gets better. Keep being a good friend to her and let her talk to you about what she's feeling. I'm sure that it helps to just have someone listen and care.

If it gets serious and you truly fear for her life, please tell someone who is in a real position to help- a counselor or her parents. Don't worry about how that makes you look.

if she really decides to commit suicide there isn't anyway to stop it. what to really do is find out if she has a plan. if so then do what you have to as far as emergency counseling, therapy or something like that.
people have a tendency to find the most vulnerable person to abuse. she could benefit from assertiveness classes. it's terrible when you see someone so good be mistreated but it happens alot. good luck to you both.
