They do come on when the laptop starts, but as soon as the OS starts, they come off cuz i download something to manage the temperature. HAving the fans off makes the laptop much quieter, when all im doing is typing up some work....
why should I leave them on all the time?? =(

The fans should come on when you start your computer. If they do not you have a problem. The fans are for keeping your computer cool. If it gets hot you may have a problem. If you have a way to turn them on and off, you should leave them on.

i have a inspiron 8600 Pent.M 1.5Ghz, and the fans kicks on around 115-120 degrees F. the fan should always kick in around this temp. the fan may only run for a few minutesif you are not doing a lot of things. it will run more and longer if you are doing intensive things.like run a lot of things at once.
my computer has 2 fans in it. The one is very small and runs all the time. The bigger fan kicks on when the temp get to 115-120.
