First of all, you need to be asking these kinds of questions to your female relatives (mom, auntie, sis, granny, etc.). They know you better than we do, plus the family history, as the starting date runs in families. Second, if you don't have any relatives to ask, then talk to a school nurse, a friend's mom or even your Sunday school teacher (I happen to be one!). I had read, in a medical book, that if your period doesn't start by the time you're 16, you need to see a doctor, to see if there's a physical reason. There's really no "normal" time for girls. It tends to be anywhere from 12-14, with some as young as 9, and some 18 (though not that often at that age). Just 'cause most of your friends have already started doesn't make you "weird". Just know this...you're really not missing anything. Many girls get cramping, weight gain, swelling of the hands & feet, crankiness, and other such emotional stuff, during this time. And then you always have to keep track of your cycle on a calendar, so as to be ready for when the next one starts, always making sure you have a pad or tampon ready, in case it starts when you're out. I would think that you'll be starting soon. Go to your local library and check out a book on adolescent development. That should give you all the details that you need, without all the crazy stories you might get from other people. <*)))><

SORRY I,M NOT A GIRL, but i also don,t want to mess with you , but i do hope to offer you some perspective...ok
no two girls are the same , everyone will give you a different answer based on there own experiences. if you are worried ask someone , the family doctor, or on line, at ask a nurse maybe....but in general, if your not sexually active, so that there would,t be any question of a pregnancy... then you should know that your body will mature at its own pace, not by anyone Else's ideas, even your own...diet, can have alot to do with your getting it early , or much later then those around you ...even hereditary traits could come into play...my advice to to relax and enjoy all the time before it begins, and after as well...just be you...and if this in anyway bothers you beyond simple curiosity, consult a professional, not a forum where Even the best ( voted ) answer may not be the correct one...good luck , with this , and the rest of your life....some things you,ll unfortunately have to wait for, learn to be patient , and you,ll learn to be happy......

It varies with each person and there is not right or wrong time when a person starts their period. Usually a girl gets it by time she is 16 but if she goes beyond 16 then it is recommended that she see the doc just to get checked out. There are no real signs of when you will get it so just relax and enjoy the fact that you don't have to worry about the montly hassle of having a period.

I know a few people who were 16 or 17 when they first got their first period. Everyone is different, adn it doesn't mean you are abnormal. Don't worry , it will come, but don't sweat it in the meantime, because once you get it you will dread it every month. Enjoy the here and now until that time!
Normal is between 12 and 14 btw. If it starts earlier or later, it's no big deal

When I was 11 I got my period! I hated it! I felt more out of place than ever. I liked playing sports and just being a tomboy but nature has its own timing! My best friend was jealous and I told her she was nuts because it hurt and it causes really embarrassing moments like.....
I was in 4th grade and I had a male teacher for reading hour. He was kinda young and cute and I was very shy. As I sat there in my chair aware that my pad was leaking I couldn't read and concentrate! He said to me "read!" and I put my face down and pretented to read. He saw that I was uncomfortable and asked me to come up to his desk! I thought I was going to die. I put a book behind me to cover my butt and I walked up. He asked me what my problem was and I said 'personal' and he took that as if I was being a smartass and started to be angry with me. I thought to myself (I have to show him) so I turned around and raised the book so he could see that my pants were bloody and I wasn't trying to be difficult.
I thought he was going to die of embarrassment! He stuttrerd and mumbled "uh, uh, uh, g,g,g, go to the nurses station!"
After that all I had to do to get out of class was raise my hand and go...for as long as I wanted! He never bothered any of the girls on bathroom breaks after that.
Any way every female is a little different when it comes to the onset of her menses. Some have no symptoms at all, others a heavy discharge.
If you have been sexually active that might explain the discharge.
Just don't be in a hurry, it will arrive soon! trust me and then you will have the next 30+ to buy pads/tampons ok?

There is no set age to begin your period. Discharges are somewhat normal but you should see your Dr to be on the safe side. If you don't get your period by the time you are 17 check with your Dr.

One of my best friends didn't get her period until she was 16. If you are starting to get discharge, you may be getting it soon. It depends a lot on genetics and your weight/height.

doesnt anyone talk to their kids anymore?? you should be asking your mother or a female family member this question and not posting it on the world wide web for all of the weirdos to read. this is especially true if you are indeed only 14. doesnt anyone monitor their kids activity on the internet?? jesh is the internet the new baby sitter now?? just put jr. behind the computer screen and then we can go party. man what a world we live in. yes things have changed, but they sure in the hell arent for the better!!!!!!!

You're probably a late bloomer but it's not that bad. I knew people who didn't get their period until they were 16 or even 17. Eventually it will come.
